GEHT’S NOCH?! 3/8: Horst Lechner

A new podcast series by afo and Jamie Wagner explores the role of architecture and urban planning in global developments and sustainable solutions. This time, Jamie Wagner is a guest at Lechner & Lechner in Salzburg.

The Architecture Days 2024, titled 'Can it be done? Planning and building for a society in transition', focus on the role of architecture and urban planning in global developments and their sustainable solutions. The emphasis is on the shift in awareness regarding existing buildings and resources in terms of sustainability. Architecture and the construction industry contribute to ecological and social transformation. At the same time, issues such as land sealing, resource consumption, and existing buildings are present in public discussions. Architects in rural and urban areas will increasingly develop projects focusing on the circular economy, reuse, recycling, and sustainable materials.

And what do you do?

Jamie Wagner is this time a guest at the architectural firm Lechner & Lechner in Salzburg. The architectural firm Lechner & Lechner was founded in 1987 by Christine & Horst Lechner and re-established in 2015 as lechner – lechner – lechner ZT gmbh. Horst Lechner Jr. followed in his parents' footsteps and has been part of the architectural firm since 2015. He completed his architectural education at the University of Art Linz, the Politecnico di Milano in Italy, and the Vilniaus dailės Akademija in Lithuania.

Has the shift in consciousness reached the industry? From daily challenges in planning to ethical and moral codes in the construction industry to dealing with new technologies, a wide range of questions are asked about the topic of the Architecture Days 2024.
